Safe opening San Juan de Alicante, gentlest method first
A keypad that has gone dark, a code that went with the last tenant, a safe in a shop’s back office that nobody remembers how to open. Most give way to patience and the right tools rather than a drill, and a new safe is only worth having if it is bolted down.

- Power and override first
- Owner’s permission checked
- Price agreed before work starts
Before ringing: try fresh batteries, through the outside contacts if the keypad has them, and look behind the maker’s badge for an override keyhole. A surprising number of "broken" safes are only flat.

Battery, override, lock, and only then a drill
-
Power and reset
Outside battery contacts, the override key if there is one, or the maker’s reset procedure for that model.
-
Work the lock
A mechanical dial or key lock can often be opened from the front, leaving the box untouched.
-
One hole, only with your yes
If nothing else works, a small hole at the right point, then a new lock, so the safe goes on being used.
Before any safe is opened, it has to be shown to be yours, or the owner has to agree: purchase papers, a rental contract, or a call from the landlord or the business owner.
Here in particular
Where the safes we open in Sant Joan tend to be
Rented flats and rooms. If you rent near the hospital or the UMH campus, or anywhere else, a safe left by a landlord can outlast several tenants and their codes. A keypad safe in a rented flat sorts out whose job it is.
Shops and offices. A small safe in the back office of a shop on the carretera de Valencia, its code known to someone who has since left. Opened outside opening hours, like the rest of our work for businesses.
After a break-in. A safe that was attacked but held is usually jammed. It can be opened and assessed, and the door itself secured: repairs after a forced entry. For the front-door cylinder, lock changes.
Photos of the safe can be sent through WhatsApp or email. Safes are opened anywhere in Sant Joan and the neighbouring towns.
Questions
Keypads, override keys and landlords’ safes
The keypad does nothing at all. Where do the batteries go?
Usually behind a small cover on the front, or inside the door, which is no help when it is shut. Many keypads have two outside contacts for a 9-volt battery to power them while the code is typed.
The safe in my rented flat is locked and I never had the code. Who should open it?
It belongs to the landlord, so ask them first. If they agree, they or you can call, and the safe is opened and reset with a new code. Whatever is inside stays yours.
Can a safe be opened without drilling it?
Most small electronic safes can, through an override key or the maker’s reset. Heavier safes sometimes need one small hole, made only with your agreement, after which the safe still works.
Can you fit a safe in a shop or office?
Yes, bolted to a solid floor or wall where it cannot be carried off. Say how big it is and where you want it, and the fixings are brought to suit.
